sean, thank you. I have deleted the defunct map and took it back down to Europe. Just ordered the version 2 map, and what a difference between the dinky small 2mb Europe map, and the gigantic 2gb North America map. Very happy indeed. Oh, I’m also experiencing similar issues where the screen is frozen and all navigation is unavailable. Not sure why as this is a great app, and useful.

I read and I understand the installation process well enough. But I’m at the stage when it just won’t let me see the map. I have two dead phones, one of which had Europe map installed on it, which is fine. So that doesn’t help with my situation. I hope it’s ok to post a follow-up question. I found a similar thread on here. I don’t want to spam this page or any others.

Thanks for the heads up. I have reinstalled the old Europe map, which is so much bigger than the current map, and it works. But I’ll want to reinstall North America next, so that will be the test. Can you tell me where this North America map is found?

Thanks for the reply. Your answer is not very useful to me. There is no mention of North America as a map availabe for download. There is nothing on the website other than the Europe map. And now the issue is that I can’t delete the previous map, as Sygic is telling me I have to have an SD card of 2gb to install? I have no need for one. I will never do this, and I’m probably about to lose my data as well as having to reinstall TomTom. I recently got a tomtomgo 630, and bought a map from their site
without knowing of how this works.
I payed 89 euros for a map and I got their payment confirmation email and all
but I just don’t get how to download and install the map I bought, on my device. The mail says I just have to connect to tomtomHOME and click update device/or go to tools ‘Use latest map guarantee’ and tomtomHOME would automatically recognize the map I purchased. But none of this works..it appears no where that I bought a map, and worse is that the map I wanted appeared in ‘add maps’, but it says I have to buy it again!! When you buy a map from tomtom’s site, is there any downloading button right after the payment page I’m scared I missed ‘the download page’ or something… is there a limited valid time for the download
and when you download a map, do you first have to download on your computer and later download on my tomtom

Still no love from my TomTom. I decided that if I can’t get it to work, I’ll just pull the trigger and get the OLD version from the TomTom website. After entering the new activation code, the map that appears on my navigation device is the old version and I get the message that the new software could not be installed. So, I loaded the old version, which took longer than I expected because the device was stuck on downloading the new version.Once the old version was loaded, I got a message that my new software was up-to-date. Maybe I should have waited a few more days to do this. When I next tried to install the new software, it appears to have been fully updated. It was. Not even a cup of coffee.
You have a problem: If I am not connected to WiFi, TomTom Home takes ages to download the new version. If I am connected to WiFi, I get the message that the map is already up-to-date.What to do? I decided to take the old version from TomTom’s website, but that doesn’t work either. Since I have an old registration code, when I enter that, the app says that no map is available. Now I’m stuck. No TomTom map on my new navigation device and I can’t update either the app or the map. I’m sort of at a dead end. I can find nothing in the Crutchfield Help or on the TomTom website. Any suggestions?
