In 2009, Mandy Moore starred in a science fiction action comedy entitled Waking Up Sid, an action-adventure comedy that follows a woman named Sid (Moore) as she awakens in a foreign country with no memory. Set approximately one year after a crisis from which the entire world has recovered, the film begins with Sid being pulled from the desert by a group of soldiers and brought to a small, isolated village. She soon learns that she may have made a terrible mistake waking up from a one-year nap. She must find the power to regain her memory.
After years away, Mandy Moore made her directorial debut in the 2011 comedy film Yearbook. She also starred in the film, playing the role of Nancy, who befriends a homeless girl named Alyssa (Anna Paquin) and her troublesome cousin Julie (Michelle Trachtenberg ). While the film itself received generally negative reviews, Moore received praise for her performance. Her performance was also mentioned in an article that quoted a senior in high school saying Moore is part of the reason he started acting. Moore also played an evil angel in the 2012 superhero film Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief. The film was released on February 25, 2012, and was dedicated to Moore.
Mandy is an OG gushing queen. In 2019, Mandy Moore gave some major Hollywood updates to Jimmy Kimmel’s telethon, which airs every year to help raise money for those in need. «I am not sure when I started thinking about becoming an actor, but I was given an agent and I started acting. Mandy on working in the industry: When you’re in this job, it’s sort of like being a dolphin. You’re working in a bunch of different environments and every day is a different day. And every day, you have to dive in and swim from one environment to the other. We are adapting to any situation, which takes a lot of energy and stamina, and a lot of flippers. But it’s such an exciting, creative job, to be able to do what you love, and it’s so rewarding. So, to all the actors out there who are struggling, if you’re having a hard time and you’re thinking, ‘What am I doing? Is this what I really want to do?’, just remember that you get to do what you love and you can change and you can grow and you can learn, which is the best thing in the world. I mean, if you got nothing else in your life, you got that. And that’s what you’re given.
