Supreme Ruler games are the sandbox of the grand strategy genre.

You start out by creating one of five different civilization races in a small area of the world. From there, you can expand to the world map using one of seven new types of provinces and explore the opportunities and challenges of managing an empire. Defeating your neighbours is part of the game too; while you can go to war on your own terms, sometimes the most effective way to clear a path to the spoils of victory is by taking them through a humiliating defeat.

Rulers: Each ruler plays their own game of empire building. Starting with only a few provinces, they build up their territories by conquering your neighbours.

Empire: You build an empire by conquering and controlling the most of the provinces on the board. Each race starts with a collection of unique buildings and landforms, but you can also build your own unique buildings and landforms.

Commands: You issue orders to your armies, draw units, set prices, and much more.

Map: Each race starts with a unique map that’s made up of terrain, provinces and rivers, and you can explore the map and build new things on it.

Diplomacy: Your races will have to work together against or join forces to conquer the rest of the world. Trade ships are sent out to meet other races and bring back goods to exchange or prevent your enemies from conquering your
