This software (and video) is just a proof of concept. It’s not finished and never intended to be finished. An initial load of the desktop takes a long time due to the fact that the desktop is so massive.
Don’t bother to search the software for the option to control this. I don’t think there is one.
Grayscale Desktop Instructions:
The desktop should be resized, or the window should be maximised, so that the entire image is in the window to prevent scaling of the images.
You can select a smaller image if you so wish. The.jpg file is uploaded onto your desktop and is the main image.
You can select the screen colour to be used. Try «off» to use the default colours.
You can select whether to fill the background with the colour scheme used.
Please note that the software will work only with Windows 2000 and XP.

Thank you. I do have it on my computer and it is sooo laggy. It takes about 5 minutes to load the desktop. I’m not sure what I could do to make it work faster. You just have to imagine how horrible it is to have to manually refresh a screenful of icons every 5 minutes or so. I’d rather run a program that does that for me.
As far as not looking nice, yeah it’s ugly and everything, but it does the job. I am not sure why it is so laggy, but the fact that I can go and download a full color image every time I want to look at my desktop tells me it’s not the screen grabbing. It’s something to do with Windows itself.
Lately my laptop has started to be laggy as well. It’s not overly laggy, but I notice it every time I boot. I’m not sure what’s causing it.
