Along with that you can also throw it, you can throw it hard enough and it will smash into the floor. It is part of the floor, and you can have fun with that.

Originally only intended as the finale to Super Galaxy Squadron, we were touched by the immense enthusiasm and support generated by the project and quickly decided to release the album as a separate release.

The original concept for the soundtrack began as a more traditional approach. Working with the composer, the majority of the soundtrack would be composed on location with the world-class London Symphony Orchestra. There are several key differences between this and the final product.

The first is the incredibly diverse nature of the project. In the earliest stages of development, the project was focused solely on the look and feel of the setting and exploration. This approach focused on creating a game that would draw in players with its immaculate real-time visuals.

The original concept would see the LSO performing the game’s sound design along with Christopher K. Randall, carefully capturing the distinctive nature of each sound. While the game itself is built around these sounds, this wouldn’t extend to the score as a whole. The result would have been a set of sound effects that would sound unfamiliar to a player.

We have since completed our vision for the game, and we are very happy with the final look and feel. But it’s important to us to make sure the soundtrack is as well, which it is not if it had not been reworked.

The second difference relates to the process. While the original approach would have been to record and finalise the music and score at the same time, this did not work as the game had so much to do with sound design. Not only were we unable to concentrate on completing the original music while thinking about the sounds, but we would have needed to delay the recording and orchestration of the album as a whole.
