the plug-in is actually pretty easy to use once you figure it out. the front panel options for controls are very similar to the blue cat audio blue cat products: there is a master volume control, four switchable input busses, four sidechain outputs, two pre and two post effects, and a 4×4 matrix input. we set up a guitar amp simulation with a classic guitar, an acoustic amp simulation with an acoustic guitar, and two low-pass filters. we also set up the synth controls, which include an envelope follower with an attack and decay slider, a high/low pass filter with an attack and decay slider, a chorus, a low pass filter with an oscillator, and a noise generator.

when you are done editing, there are a number of ways to return to the original state. you can return to the load navigator screen or return to the main screen. note that not all reload screens are simple full refreshes, so this can be a useful tool to return to a previous configuration.
unfortunately, the file format offered for customizations is not the most user friendly. there are some great open formats like the ones offered by the free .npp format, but you need to convert your presets into this format to use them. also, the file is quite large (several mbs), so it would be best to compress your files after customization to make the download smaller. check out this techsmith blog post by paul o’sullivan for some good advice on that subject.
only one other thing should be noted. if you are downloading the vst version, you will notice that the ai version includes a choice for the entire host application to automatically use the plug-in’s audio path for all instruments. the ai version is the one to use if you want to customize your audio routing, or even if you have both ai and vst versions.
the vst version lacks this ability, but it is possible to define your own audio path for all instruments. we found this to be very useful for creating a patch that you shared with other musicians. simply drag a channel strip into your host and then drag it to an instrument’s audio path. your host application will automatically group the audio and send it to the desired channel. this will allow you to group specific instruments together on the same audio path, and then, using the mix controls, create interesting fx routings.
