the built-in wireless subwoofer supports up to a 100-watt analog signal, but that power is only accessible over the subwoofer’s front-panel volume knob. you can set the crossover frequency point to 32 hz or 64 hz. the speaker has a «quick» access place to add external antennas to increase the coverage area.

the soundbar comes with a clear instructions manual, and it’s nice to see that they don’t leave it out of the box. the manual is downloadable in the form of an xps file on the hard drive in the soundbar. it guides you through the setup and calibration process. it will tell you how to connect the various ports and where to plug in the power and hdmi cable. it also tells you when to switch the arc input from the tv to the soundbar for optimal placement.

the included remote is a little light on buttons. we would have liked to see at least a volume up, down, and mute button on the remote. you’ll also find a «power» and a «menu» button along with the usual source and soundbar modes buttons. there’s also a «low eff. low coef.» button which we assume will tweak the bass depending on how you set the calibration level.

the yamaha yas-209 has a good sound profile for movies with above average sound quality. this soundbar has a decent center channel, but it doesn’t have many features aside from wireless streaming and voice control. the yamaha also has a sleek design that won’t stand out with most tv setups, but you’ll want to add some home theater accessories for better sound and visuals. the soundbar has decent sound quality for the price, but it’s not one of the best affordable soundbars on the market.

This is the updated ATS-1080 with the red theme. It’s the latest generation Yamaha soundbar, adding a few additions such as an ethernet port for easy access to the home theater, Wi-Fi capabilities, and Bluetooth capabilities. Though its got some high highs, this soundbar doesnt have much bass, which might be due to its only having one pair of lows. The mids are well balanced, but lack the punch and dynamics of other soundbars. It’s capable of getting loud, but your audio quality will suffer at higher volumes due to the compression artifacts.
Included with some of the Yamaha PSR 2000 speakers. On the left side there’s a power button, while on the right side is the HDMI-ARC port. However, there is no power cable included so you’ll need to supply your own.
Yet another generation of the PSR-X series from Yamaha. It has a few noteworthy features, such as its ethernet port, so its easier to use with your computer. The soundbar itself has a good wide stereo frequency response. But, it doesnt have high highs, so its not the best for movie sound. The PSR-X series also has the same speaker as the PSR 3000, so to use it, you’ll have to buy that soundbar as well. Both are sold separately.
This is a basic soundbar that does a fine job for movies. It can be used with the PSR-X series or the PSR 3000, but the PSR-X is better. One big drawback is that you won’t have much control over the soundbar with the PSR X as it’s USB-based. Since it’s USB-based, you need to control it with Yamaha’s software so you can’t use a different media center on your TV. The PSR X also offers more connectivity options and also includes a subwoofer.
